ALERT UPDATE: Business-class Email Password Reset

UPDATE #3 (4:30PM): We believe we have contacted those impacted by this event and provided the necessary information to access mailboxes.   We are now working on follow up issues with email clients, web forms, etc.  If you are still experiencing issues or have not been contacted, please reach out to 434-817-7300 option 2 or helpdesk@bnsi.net if you have an alternate email address.

UPDATE #2 (11:47AM):  Our email infrastructure partner has addressed the control panel lag and updates are progressing at a faster pace.  Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE (9:49AM): We have been progressing through the password updates and notifying customers upon completetion.  Due to the large number of addresses and increased traffic at our partner's site, slow performance on the control panel is causing some delay. 

Last night (Sunday, December 22nd, 2013), our partner in providing Business-class Email services identified a potential vulnerability that could allow external access to some end-user's account credentials.  As a precautionary measure, they reset passwords for the accounts that were exposed to this vulnerability.  This does not impact all customers or mailboxes but may cause disruptions for a subset of our clients.

If your password has been changed, it is not an indication that your account has been compromised.  It is a precautionary step to address the potential for such a compromise.

BNSI Help Desk will be in touch with clients impacted to get passwords reset and access restored.  We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause but support our partner's caution when it comes to security vulnerabilities.
