Computers4Kids is a Charlottesville area program whose mission is to bring not only computer
technology, but also the knowledge, skills, and on-going support to effectively use the technology,
to area school children.
As a non-profit organization, Computers4Kids receives generous support in the form of equipment donations
and volunteer time from the Greater Charlottesville Area business community. Colin Learmonth, President
and Chief Operating Officer of BNSI, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Computers4Kids.
All Computers4Kids (C4K) students are required to participate in basic computer training classes. After basic
skills are mastered, volunteer mentors meet with their students once a week to provide educational support and
to serve as role models and advocates.
Upon successful completion of the basic computer training, students are provided with a computer, monitor and
printer for their homes. C4K distributes Apple PowerMac and Pentium-class computers. Since November of 1999,
Computers4Kids has distributed more than 100 computer systems to area school children.
